The debate is raging in Australia about the unfairness of local Australian companies having to charge GST on purchases under $1,000 online or in the store, while overseas organisations can sell online to Australia without charging GST.
The argument being that it gives an unfair advantage to the overseas suppliers, which on the face of it is the case.
However, if you think about it GST is 10%. Postage from USA is probably a bit more expensive that from within Australia. So, given the same price for the item, you will be saving less than 10%.
If you are saving less than 10% or ever exactly 10%, I would suggest its not worth the effort – just buy locally.
But I think you will find that in many cases the savings are much greater – 20- 30 even 40%, so, in that case, you would be crazy not to look at it.
It is also pointing out that maybe the local suppliers are marking up their products too much, so, in time, the pressure of people buying overseas may well see local prices becoming more competitive.
Is it safe to buy from overseas?
As long as you deal with reputable companies, its very unlikely that you will have an issue. If they offer a PayPal payment option, its probably even safer. If you are in any doubt, just sign up for a FEE FREE Credit Card and get a low credit limit ( Don’t let them talk you into a higher limit). I have had a low limit credit card for years, but have never had an issue buying over the Internet, so, now mostly use my normal credit card.
If you are really cautious – stick to www.amazon.com – you will get good prices and a vast selection of items.
If you are more adventurous, check out some of the banners on this page, we have located a few good value specialist stores for you.

What about Delivery time?
There is normally and expided International delivery option for a reasonable price and this is probably less than 10 days from USA to Australia ( I have ordered on a Saturday and had delivery on a Tuesday), I don’t know if you have noticed, but most online Lingerie Stores in Australia don’t hold stock, they order from their suppliers and delivery is typically 10-20 days.
